The mission of
Sandy Springs Youth Football & Cheerleading is to deliver athletic
programs for the children of our community that develop teamwork, physical
conditioning, goal setting, sportsmanship, self-esteem, competitive
spirit, and other positive attributes that will enable them to achieve
greater gains in school, and in life. Additionally, it is our hope that
the volunteers involved with our organization will set positive examples
of how adults can give back to their community - - and in doing so,
set the stage for the children we serve to one day carry on the tradition
of service through involvement with youth sports.
Sandy Springs Youth
Football & Cheerleading provides youth football and cheerleading
programs for ages 5 –13. We work closely with SSYS Baseball &
Softball, the managing board for baseball and softball programs at our
park. The Saints carry a proud 42-year history into their 2007 season.
At its peak, the program accommodated 400 boys and 250 girls spread
across 21 teams. Fulton county commissioners have even been part of
opening and closing ceremonies. It is estimated that 60-70% of the children
involved in our programs go on to play at the high school football,
many have gone on to secure college scholarships, and we are aware of
three Saint’s players who had professional careers, including
Miami Dolphins Line Backer Channing Crowder. Over the years, Saints
teams have participated in post-season bowl games in GA, FL, TN, AL,
and FL.
The program benefits
from close relationships with North Springs and Riverwood High Schools.
Coaches at these schools astutely noted that we represent much of their
program’s future. The result is a free exchange of tapes, plays,
training, and program development support for our coaching staff. High
school even visit practices and games on a regular basis, and coordinate
"game days" for SSYS athletes. Our players are also given
free admission to the high school games by wearing their team jersey
(adult chaperone required - 1 paying adult/four players or cheerleaders).
